Week 3
EYFS Curriculum
In Aardman class we follow the curriculum for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS),
which is divided into the prime areas of learning:
• communication and language
• physical development
• personal, social and emotional development
and the specific areas of learning:
• literacy
• mathematics
• understanding the world
• expressive arts and design
For each area, the level of progress children are expected to have attained by the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage is defined by the Early Learning Goals. These goals state what it is expected that children will know and be able to do by the end of the reception year of their education.
The ‘Development Matters’ guidance sets out the likely stages of progress a child makes along their learning journey towards the early learning goals.
We will give your child the opportunity to make progress within all these areas of learning, by ensuring that they have access to a wide variety of opportunities both indoor and outside that address the different areas. Sometimes they will work with an adult in a small group, to do a particular task, and other times we provide a selection of resources, and children are able to choose how they will use them.
