The Prevent Duty (Radicalisation)

As part of Pucklechurch CE VC Primary School’s ongoing safeguarding and child protection duties, we fully support the government’s Prevent strategy.  Working positively to protect young people from radicalisation and helping to prevent children being exposed to extremist ideas. Our overriding concern is that children feel safe and also express tolerance towards all cultures and religions, even when personal views may be different.

The Prevent Duty applies to all schools and childcare providers.

The statutory guidance refers to the importance of Prevent awareness training to equip staff to identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism and to challenge extremist ideas. All our staff will receive training on what Prevent is about and be provided with a clear overview of how to exercise their duty through the link below.
