At Pucklechurch CE VC Primary School, nothing is more important that the safety of the children. All staff, governors and volunteers have a responsibility for the care, welfare and safety of every child in our school community. We believe that it is every child's right to feel safe and protected. Therefore, as a school, we are committed to safeguarding pupils and promoting their well-being. We will always be proactive and every action taken will be in the best interests of the children. This means:
- protecting children from maltreatment
- preventing impairment of children's health or development
- ensuring children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to ensure that all children have the best outcomes
All staff are alert to the potential dangers of institutional complacency and suspend professional disbelief or bias, adapting an 'it could happen here' mindset. We have a clear and well-understood Child Protection and Safeguarding policy which can be viewed on our policies page and a robust staff, governor and visitor training offer.
Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is followed in tandem with our Online Safety Policy. We recognise children's vulnerability in a rapidly evolving digital world and acknowledge our responsibility to equip children with the skills and knowledge to navigate their use of digital technology, including social media, safely, confidently and responsibly with full awareness of the benefits but also the potential risks.
Our pastoral offer at Pucklechurch is strong. Staff are approachable and encourage children and parents to talk openly about any concerns with the promise they will be taking seriously and greeted with compassion, integrity and sensitivity.
Pucklechurch works in collaboration with South Gloucestershire external agencies and recognises the importance of early idenitfication of issues, engaging in the EHAP (Early Help Assessment Plan) for any families we feel would benefit. If we have any concerns, we will take appropriate action in accordance with the procedures of South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board which can be found at https://swcpp.trixonline.co.uk/
